A Message from Asylum Welcome

Can you help those without a safe place to sleep this winter?

Did you know that newly recognised refugees now have just 28 days to leave their government accommodation? In recent weeks, 48 people in Oxford were evicted from asylum accommodation, leaving some with nowhere safe to go, limited English, no income and few connections.

Asylum Welcome’s Sanctuary Hosting service offers a compassionate response, pairing people at risk of homelessness with local host households and providing emergency accommodation, warm clothing and practical support. Since 2015, Sanctuary Hosting has provided over 40,000 nights of safe and secure accommodation, helping people find stability at moments of deep vulnerability.

While the generosity of our volunteer hosts is at the heart of Sanctuary Hosting, not everyone has a spare room or the capacity to open their home. There are times when no host placement is available, or when additional support is urgently needed to keep someone safe. Donations allow us to fund emergency accommodation, provide essential items and respond quickly when people have nowhere else to turn. Your support helps ensure that people have warmth, dignity and a safe place to sleep, as well as the support they need to move on, when it matters most.

This winter, thanks to the generosity of our partners, all donations are being matched pound for pound, doubling their impact. Local communities, congregations and individuals play a vital role in helping ensure that no one is left to face the cold alone.
